Common Flow Issues and How to Fix Them

When a PDF is converted in Flow, content is automatically restructured into a responsive, single-column layout. While this works well in most cases, some PDFs may require additional adjustments.

This article outlines common issues and how to resolve them.

Content Appears in the Wrong Order

Cause: Complex layouts such as multi-column designs or floating elements.

  • Reorder content blocks in Flow
  • Group related content together
  • Ensure logical top-to-bottom reading order

Missing or Incomplete Text

Cause: Text embedded in images or low-quality PDFs.

  • Check if text is selectable in the original PDF
  • Re-upload a higher-quality file
  • Manually re-enter missing text

Images Are Too Large or Poorly Positioned

  • Resize images in Flow
  • Move images closer to related content
  • Remove purely decorative images

Pages Feel Too Long

  • Break up long paragraphs
  • Add headings
  • Remove repetitive content

Captions Separated from Images

  • Manually move captions closer to images

Content Looks Different from the PDF

Cause: Flow is responsive and does not replicate fixed layouts.

  • Manually adjust structure for readability
  • Do not try to replicate print layout exactly

Pages Not Appearing

Cause: Processing still in progress.

  • Wait for processing to complete

Most Flow issues are caused by complex PDF layouts. In most cases, they can be resolved by manually reordering content, simplifying structure, and adjusting images.
