I’m having trouble converting my PDF publication into an eBook format. When I load a PDF into 3D Issue and switch to eBook mode the plain text isn’t visible. All I get is a series of photos of each page of my publication. When I build and view this on my Kindle it’s difficult to read as the text is so small.

This fault arises when the PDF is incorrectly formatted; basically each page has been “flattened” so the publication is just a series of images. As such when you load the publication into 3DIssue and convert for eBook there’s no text to extract.

If you want to verify your PDF is formatted correctly, follow these steps.

1. Open up your PDF in an eBook reader.
2. Attempt to highlight the words by selecting them with the mouse cursor.
3. Try using the search function to search for the words in the publication.

If neither of these features works for you then there’s a flaw with your PDF publication.
