Inserting video into digital magazinesThere are now more and more reports confirming that online video is becoming a preferred media choice. Mashable recently reported “Online video viewing is more ubiquitous than ever. According to comScore, in the month of December 178 million people watched 33.2 billion videos, with the average viewer watching 187 videos per month in the U.S.”

It’s a huge market and opportunity for Marketers and publishers, by adding video content into their online publications, viewers are likely to become more engaged and less likely to turn to other sources where video is available. We’ve seen an increase in the number of customers including video content into their page flip magazines for example interview features, advertising and related news clips.

Content versus Device – the real battle between Apple and Amazon?

As the Apple iPad nears its launch on April 3, the battle taking place between Apple and Amazon is heating up.

Up until now the reviews have been concentrating on the hardware devices – The Apple iPad versus the Amzaon Kindle, but looking deeper it appears the real battle could be between the virtual bookstores  – the iPad’s ibooks.com and the Kindle’s Amazon.com.

Visitors and buyers to Amazon.com will be able to purchase ebooks  which will be compatible on multiple devices, whilst if purchasing ebooks from Apple’s iBookstore the iPad will be the only device to read purchased ebooks.

Current and future iPad alternatives revealed

Whilst it seems the iPad is receiving all the hype and attention when it comes to the tablet, a few recent reviews urge us to look at the other options available. “The iPad isn’t the only game in town” says Matt Burns in his latest review on CrunchGear.

Other currently available alternatives that have been listed as contenders to compete with the Apple iPad in the tablet battle are the ModBook, Viliv X70 and the Archos 9 PC tablet. Whilst other challengers to look out for in the near future include the Viliv S10 Blade, Notion Ink Adam, HP Slate and the Dell Streak.

As the digital world continues to move on at great speed, some recently published statistics are now giving us more confirmation that this media is becoming the first choice for publishers, readers and advertisers alike.

The Independent reported  “Americans are more likely to turn to the internet for news rather than printed newspapers or the radio, research revealed yesterday. Internet and mobile phone technology had changed news “into a social experience”, said the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, based in Washington DC.” Once online, readers are then making the most of the wide choice of sources available at their fingertips “Most respondents to a Pew survey said they turned to multiple sources for news – about 46 per cent used up to six different sources a day. The number of people going online has overtaken newspapers and radio and is fast catching up with the TV.”  (more…)
