As we settle into 2012 we’re already seeing some strong predictions and forecasts for the digital and mobile industry for the coming year. There have been several reports already released by industry experts, and here we highlight some key areas that will be very interesting for marketers looking to tap into this growing digital audience.
In 2012, the audience of internet users in the U.S. will expand by 3.1% to 239 million, representing 75.6% of the total population. This means that 3/4 of the total population will be online in 2012. (Source: Hubspot)
The Hubspot team also state that Mobile internet users will reach 113.9 million in 2012, up 17.1% from 97.3 million in 2011 and 76.4% of tablet users will be iPad users
Over a 17% increase in mobile internet users is a huge growth rate for one year – mobile devices and tablets have enabled people to easily access the internet and therefore online content when and where they need it.
And what about the eReader market? Well positive growth is expected in this area to with adult-aged eReader users expected to reach 45.6 million in 2012, up from 33.3 million in 2011.
The good news is that marketers and publishers can very easily create digital publications for these mobile, tablet, ereader and of course desktop users to without specialist technical or deisgn skills.
