A Gfk MRI Study shows that 11% of readership is in digital only form.
The study was part of GFK’s ‘Survey into the American Consumer’ where 26,000 residents are interviewed in their homes and queried on their reading habits and so forth.
The findings are positive, total magazine audience calculated from total number of consumer exposures to magazines was over 1.5 billion and of this 166 million were calculated as digital only, note that these are not sales figures but rather the exposure to digital publications. The Gfk Chief Research officer Dr. Julian Bairn mentions that the new figures for Spring 2012 when released will provide comparative figures.
The figures here were calculated over March through October 2011. The full press release can be viewed in digital format here.
