6 content creation ideas..
1. Research based articles
Collect interesting industry or user research and write about your findings. If you are in the tourism industry, then perhaps create a poll to discover your readers’ key event or element that influences their holiday destination choice. Polls are actually very easy to set up, here’s a good solution we’ve used. Once your poll is set up and the results are in you have some great research that you can share with your readers.
2. Look through your emails
Of the emails you receive daily are there any trends, any frequently asked questions that customers and prospects continue to seek your advice on? Contact your customer service department or other customer facing colleagues and see if there are any subjects they get asked about frequently. Once armed with this information you can create articles, guides or blog posts answering these questions, these will not only assist readers but also gives you and your colleagues a related article to send along with an email reply next time they are asked the same or related question.
3. What does your data tell you?
Website statistical analysis can be fascinating, next time you go and take a look at your visitor data, look for patterns in your visitor behaviour – is there a subject that is becoming increasingly popular? If so then write more content on this or related subjects. Perhaps you discover that you’re receiving more visits from a certain geographical location than you have before? If so then consider writing targeted information for these local areas.
4. Consider other presentation methods
Instead of just text-based articles consider including images, photos, diagrams, infographics and charts. These different ways of portraying content can interest more readers and enable you to add some variety to your posts.
5. Keep a list
Always keep a list on your computer where you can note down interesting stories or news that you come across each day. If you find you’re having one of those days when nothing is jumping out then refer to your trusted list for inspiration.
6. Share tips
Whilst speaking with your customers or readers you will often come across a case where you are faced with a challenge that needs a little more thought, you find solution and then have a happy customer. Have you thought there could be others out there with the same problem? Sharing tips is an excellent way of engaging with your readers and also encourages them to come back for more useful tips and hints.
Hopefully this gives you some inspiration for articles, guides and eBooks that you could create today!
