Why do iPad buttons and hotspots require two taps to launch? The reason hotspots and button require two taps to work is due to the touch screen interface. The issue with the touch screen and small form factor is accidental actions such as tapping a jump to page button while just scrolling the page, or opening a video without meaning to. “When on a PC when you mouse over buttons or hotspots you get an animation or rollover – something to let you know there is a function there. On a tablet you can’t get this.” To this end for better heuristics a second “confirmation” click / tap to the buttons. This lets the user know there is a function there without actually calling the function and it also preventing accidentally launching items or switching a page etc. |
