What is the difference between 3D Issue Market & 3D Issue Subscribe?
The 3D Issue digital magazine software was design to assist print & web publishers to display their content in a magazine format online, in a intuitive manner that reflects the real world experience.
3D Issue Market is packed with innovative features features such as page flip animation designed to optimise user experience. It is a dynamic software tool, allowing users to interact with the magazine while its is downloading content.
3D Issue subscribe was designed to cater to users who want instant access to the entire online magazine. This solution was designed to minimise download time. It has all the features of the Market solution with the exception of page flip animation. Users can immediately skip to any section of the magazine within seconds. Although broadband connections are desirable for viewing digital magazines it is also possible to view the online publication using 3D Issue Subscribe.
What type of internet connection is needed to view these digital magazines?
Although a DSL / Broadband connection is desirable. It is possible to view the 3D Issue digital magazines with a dial-up connection. It is recommended that if you have a dial-up connection to select the 3D Model Subscribe model when viewing an online magazine.
What version of flash player is needed to view the digital magazines?
Flash Player 7 is needed to run the 3D digital magazine software. If you do not have this plug in then click here to install
Can I increase the size of the initial zoom?
No. Our ebook software was designed to fit the standard resolution 1024 x 768. To ensure that all features where viewable in a browser & to compensate for browser features such as address & status bar, we use an initial view of 800 x 600
NAVIGATION TOOLS
They are many different ways to navigate through the digital magazines. Please review as not all features are applicable to both models
CLICK & DRAG
This feature is exclusive to 3D Issue Market solution. Roll your mouse over the corner of a page until you see the corner curl. Click down on your mouse and drag the page accross as you would do with a print magazine. Please ensure that when you are dragging the page that you drag it all the over to the left hand side, otherwise the tool assumes that you no longer wish to change the page.
CLICK ONCE
Again this is currently exclusive to the 3D Issue Market solution. Rather than clicking & dragging the page you can simply click once on the corner of the pages to navigate.
ARROW KEYS
Only the click & drag & click once features are exclusive to the 3D Issue Market solution. At the bottom of your digital magazine presentation window you should see a left & right arrow key. These buttons can be used to navigate backwards and forwards through the magazine.
CONTENTS MENU
In the top left hand side of your digital magazine presentation you will see a drop down menu option. This can be used to navigate to specially selected feature articles in the current issue of the digital magazine.
GO TO PAGE OPTION
In the bottom right hand side of your digital magazine browser window you will see the' go to page' option. You can jump to any page in the publication by simply typing in the page number. and clicking on the arrow button. The magazine will then navigate you to the requested page by using the page flip animation. Note that when using the pageflip model you can only navigate to a page that has loaded.
THUMBNAIL GENERATOR
This tool is the latest edition to the 3D Issue software solution. This tool displays thumbnails of all the pages in the current issue of the digital magazine. When a user clicks on a thumbnail they will be automatically brough to that page.
HOME BUTTON
This tool is also common in both digital magazine models. Once selected the user will be brought to the beginning of the digital magazine, i.e. the front cover.
EXIT BUTTON
This tool is also common in both digital magazine models. When selected this button will close the digital magazine solution & navigate to a predetermined web url.
3D ISSUE FEATURES
MOUSE MOVING NAVIGATION
The mouse move navigation tool is a new feature added to allow the user to easily move around the page when they have zoomed in on a particular point of the publication. Simply by moving the mouse the user can move the double page spread of the magazine in the requested direction. This allows the user to read articles in full with ease. Note that this tool is only applicable when you have zoomed in.
SEND TO A FRIEND
This is a new feature that allows users to send articles of interest to friends. Once selected the user will be presented with a pop-up dialog box. The user will be required to enter their name & email along with the friend's name, email and a brief message. Once all information is entered correcly the user is send a email with a link to that article.
The purpose of this additional information is to inform the reciepeant that it is not junk mail.
KEYWORD SEARCH
End users can now search the text entire publication. When a user types in a keyword & selects the search icon. The server database is search & all instances of that word are returned. A drop down box appears listing all instances, displaying where in the paragraph the keyword appears, with the keyword highlighted in bold. At the end of each listing there is a hyperlink stating the page & paragraph number in which the word appears. Once clicked it navigates the user to the request page. Note the inclusion of paragraph segmentation is done at the publishers discretion.
COMMENTS TOOL
The comments tool is a feature that allows the user to add comments on articles they have read. This is also a great method for publishers to recieve feedback from articles. Alternatively this tool can be used as a blogging tool. When clicked on this tool will load all comments listed for this option and will enable the end user to add comments. These comments will filtered to a supervisor & must be approved before going live. Again this tool is added at the discretion of the user.
PRINT TOOL
A new addition to 3D Issue the print tool allows publishers to offer users a printing option in a manner that protects the copyright of their content. Once selected, the current viewis downloaded & the pages are spooled to the end users printer.
VIEW PDF
This is a menu option that allows the user to download an offline version of their digital magazine. This option is included at the discretion of the publisher. This feature is accessed by selecting "options / view pdf version"
TROUBLESHOOTING
When I click on the click to load the magazine nothing appears ?
Flash player 7 is required to use the 3D Issue software. If you do not have the software installed. Click here to download & install the required plugin now.
Every time I click & drag the page, it never opens, only falls back into place?
The digital magazine acts like a hard copy printed publication. Please ensure that when you are dragging the page that you drag it all the over to the left hand side, otherwise the tool assumes that you no longer wish to change the page.
- In the digital magazine i use i do not see all of the features that you have listed above ?
- Features such as the comments, send to a friend, print, download pdf tools are added at the discretion of the publisher & therefore if they choose to disable an option the button / functionality will not appear in the online magazine.
- I cannot click on some buttons as they appear to be disabled?
- In some cases the buttons are disabled at certain points of the presentation. For example if the user is at the front cover of the magazine the previous button is disabled. If the user is at the last page of the online publication the next button is disabled. If the user has selected the thumbnail generator or has clicked to zoom in to a particular point of the page all buttons are diabled until they click on a thumbnail or click to zoom out.
The go to page button is not working ?
The only instant in which the go to page option will not work is when using the 3D Issue Market solution. If the requested page has not downloaded yet the application will not allow the user to navigate to that page. Only after the page has download & been assigned can a user navigate to that page using this tool.
I selceted the comments tool & entered my review but it was not added?
- Although all comments are added to the database automatically. Theu are not added to the display comment until a supervisor has reviewed the comment & approved its listing. This is discourage harmful comments.
- My 3D Issue software has crashed ?
The 3D Issue tool is designed to minimise memory usage on a users machine. However, to ensure optimum performance it is recommended that users do not have numberous applications running on their machines when viewing. In the event of the component freezing, simply click the refresh button on your browser. All information & files are cached on your machine while you are running the magazine therefore the reload will only take a second to reboot.

Do I need any special software or skills to convert our press ready publication into a digital magazine format ?
Not really. How you convert your pdfs to up to yourself. Through our & our clients experience we recommend photoshop. Hosting Digital Magazines
What type of database connectiveity is required?
3D Issue software uses an access database to store data relating to the keyword search & comments left per issue. Each access database is located at the same URL as the digital magazine software. The database uses ASP to communicate with the server, therefore it is imperative that you select a ASP friendly server to host your digital magazine software.
- Will my software run on a php configured server?
- The digital magazine solution is currently only built with asp connectiveity. Therefore it will not run on a php configured server.

- What resolution should i save my images at
- 3D Issue digital magazines use jpgs to render the pages. The resolution of the images depends on each client. However we recommend thqat clients do not exceed 150 dpi. This resolution provides the end user with high quality experience.
