More than 66% of tablet owners are content with their tablet computers according to a survey carried out in December 2010 by the NPD Group.Tablet owners say they are happy with the e mail and internet capabilities available on their tablet devices and 60% are pleased with the social networking capabilities. 30% reportedly use their PCs less as a result of carrying out these activities on their choice of tablets.
Mellenials, ( the generation born in the 1980s who are now entering the job markets, universities and the electorate), and Generation X seem to be the chief customers of the iPad and like tablet computers according to a September 2010 survey from Pew Internet % American Life Project.And these numbers are sure to rise with this weeks’ release of the iPad 2 in San Francisco which 3D Issue blogged about yesterday.
Vision Critical reports that apparently 11% of US adults are interested in becoming iPad owners within the next 6 months. 20% of these were from younger age categories.
In December 2010 emarketer estimated that 19.4 million iPads will be sold in the US alone and that 24 will be purchased worldwide. This is more than doubles last years stats and figures. With 15.7 million tablets sold last year e marketer envisage 45.6 million to be sold this year. 75% of tablets sold worldwide will be an iPad. No wonder Steve Jobs is always beaming from ear to ear!
